Broadway star to perform at benefit

Move over 42nd Street, former Broadway perform Meg Tolin Piper is heading to Greenwich for the Family ReEntry’s Backcountry Cabaret — the organization’s 16th Annual Benefit and musical afternoon.

Ms. Piper starred as Eliza Doolittle with Richard Chamberlain in both the Broadway and National Tour of My Fair Lady. She was last seen on Broadway as Maria in The Sound of Music. Ms. Piper will perform contemporary, classic & Broadway hits for the benefit.

The concert will be held once again in town at the Bydale estate of Honorary Event Chair Joan Warburg on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 3 p.m.

“We are extremely excited about the performance of this wonderfully talented songstress, and expect a sell-out crowd, all for the benefit of the outstanding programs at Family ReEntry,” said event co-chair Susan Ness.

Last year, the Music in the Garden event nearly overflowed the mammoth tent for the performance of New Orleans’s jazz great, Allen Toussaint, drawing a record number of patrons.

Since 1984, Family ReEntry’s effective community-based programs have significantly reduced the likelihood that a client will re-offend, be re-arrested or be re-incarcerated. Reductions in recidivism resulting from Family ReEntry’s cost-effective programs increase public safety, improve quality of life and reduce the financial burden on taxpayers.
