Town students named ‘Scholar Leaders’

Middle school students from a number of local towns, including Greenwich, were recently honored by the Connecticut and Western Massachusetts McDonald’s Owner/Operator Association, but it wasn’t a “happy meal” they received as a reward.

Instead, students from Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, Easton, Fairfield, Greenwich, Newtown, Norwalk, Redding, Riverside, Shelton, Stamford, Stratford, Trumbull, Weston, Westport and Wilton were recognized as the state’s top Scholar Leaders at the 2013 Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS) Scholar Leader Banquet.

As part of its long-standing commitment to supporting educational programs, McDonald’s owner/operators joined CAS to honor six local students as the best of the best in the state, including Samantha Carbino and Alex Presley of Western Middle School in Greenwich.

“As a proud partner with CAS, McDonald’s is honored to present each of Connecticut’s top middle school students with a scholar-leader award,” said Rachel Deane, a local McDonald’s owner/operator and president of the Connecticut and Western Massachusetts McDonald’s Owner/Operator Association.

“These exceptional students have earned distinguishable achievements inside the classroom as well as within their local communities. McDonald’s continues to wish every Scholar Leader recipient all the best success and support in the future,” added Ms. Deane.
