Town-based hotel company puts guests in the lap of luxury

Ultra luxury is alive and well around the world and 14 hotel suites from the Greenwich-based Starwood Hotels & Resorts are a prime example, having been chosen for inclusion in the New York-based private jet lifestyle magazine Elite Traveler’s Annual 101 Top Suites of the World Selections.

The most expensive Starwood property — the Presidential Suite at the St. Regis Doha in Qatar — is so pricey, they only give out the nightly rate upon request. The top listed nightly rate tops the full list of 101 Suites as well, at $32,671 for a night in the Royal Suite at the The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi.

The suites at the other 12 Starwood properties are a relative bargain in comparison. They include the Redentore Terrazza Suite, The Gritti Palace, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Venice, Italy, at $16,200 per night; L’Appartement Parisien, Prince de Galles, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Paris, France, at $16,000 per night; the Presidential Suite, Le Meridien Istanbul Etiler, Turkey, at $13,000 per night; the Presidential Suite, Twelve at Hengshan, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Shanghai, China, at $11,000 per night; Extreme WOW Suite, W Singapore, Sentosa Cove, Singapore, at $10,837 per night; the Bentley Suite, The St. Regis New York, at $10,500 per night; the Presidential Villa, The Royal Begonia, A Luxury Collection Resort, Sanya, China, at $10,286 per night; the Raja Raja Chola Suite, ITC Grand Chola, Chennai, India, at $7,000 per night; the Suite Sueños, Luxury Two-Bedroom Suite, The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, Mexico, at $5,295 per night; the Couture Suite, The St. Regis Rome, Italy, at $5,098 the night; the Extreme WOW Suite, W New York — Times Square, at $4,500 per night and the Extreme WOW Suite, W Scottsdale, Arizona, at $4,500 per night.

When looking at the full list, a night’s stay in each of the 101 hotel suites on the list would cost $826,324 and combined they take up more than 416,000 square feet of space. By comparison, the National Association of Home Builders reports the average American home is 2,700 square feet and costs $270,000. Hotels report that typical length of stay varies from 10 days to three weeks depending on location and time of year. Typical guests come from around the world, and the suites are popular with families, heads of state, royalty, celebrities and elite business leaders.
