YWCA brings back Alvin Ailey dance classes

Alvin Ailey Dance is back at the YWCA, bringing one of the greatest names in modern dance to town for youngsters who want to learn how to put some spring in their step this fall.

In 1965 the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater first opened at the YWCA New York and now it comes to YWCA Greenwich with high energy classes in hip hop and contemporary jazz for kids and teens taught by Ailey-trained instructors.

Hip hop classes, beginning Sept. 4, are offered Wednesday afternoons for ages seven to 15. Contemporary jazz classes, beginning Sept. 6, take place Friday afternoons starting at 4 p.m. for ages seven to 15.

As one mother put it, “I’ve been a fan of Alvin Ailey Dance for years; my thanks to the YWCA for bringing them to Greenwich.”

Fall classes are filling quickly. To save a place, call Kyle Wirtz at 203-869-6501, ext. 131.
