Stars for Kids banquet and golf tourney set for Sunday, Monday at Mohegan Sun

The first annual “Stars for Kids” Hall of Fame Banquet and Golf Tournament is slated for Sunday and Monday, Aug. 18 and 19 at Mohegan Sun.

Baseball Hall of Famers Jim Rice, Goose Gossage, Rollie Fingers and Gaylord Perry will join many more former baseball stars like ex-Yankees pitcher Tommy John and Darrell Evans to raise money for the KinderVision’s “Greatest Save Campaign” to protect youngsters from predators,

On Sunday, the event starts with a meet and greet reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by live and silent auctions filled with a unique selection of memorabilia and personal experiences items. Dinner and a question-and-answer session with the Hall of Famers is part of the program.

Monday’s golf outing begins with a putting contest at 9:30 a.m. and shotgun, scramble format tee-off set for 30 minutes later.

Tickets for the dinner only are priced at $175 (including a free baseball for autographs) and tables of eight at $1,200. The golf cost is $700 per player or $2,000 per threesome with an Major League Baseball celebrity golfer and banquet included. Sponsorships are still available.
