Pool party for a cause

Take a dip for a good cause on Aug. 18 when the Friends of Autistic People hold a Summer Family Pool Party at a private residence in Westport from 3 to 5 p.m.

After the success of last year’s celebration, the Greenwich-based organization has decided to make the pool party an annual event where families who have children with autism and their siblings can meet and relax in a friendly environment.

This year, the host family’s service dog, a yellow lab from the Heeling Autism Program of Guiding Eyes for the Blind, will be available for petting and companionship during the event. Other features will include music, a potluck picnic and face painting.

Bring your own food to share. Directions to the location for the pool party will be given upon RSVP. Donations are gratefully accepted.

Nonswimmers are also welcome but only under closest, hands-on supervision by a parent or guardian, and after having signed a liability release.

You can RSVP at [email protected] or by calling 203-661-8510.
