Annual golf outing marks another successful year for YMCA

FI-golfThe YMCA of Greenwich had another successful day hitting the links on June 17 at the 19th annual Lou Ferraro Golf Outing to support the organization’s annual fund.

For the fifth consecutive year, the tournament, held at the Tamarack Country Club, was hosted by Miami attorney Jim Ferraro, in memory of his father, longtime Greenwich resident Lou Ferraro.

More than 100 golfers came out in support of the Y’s annual campaign. Local golfers as well as many from Florida and Ohio enjoyed a day on the course followed by a silent auction and dinner. The highlight of the day was Mr. Ferraro’s video tribute to his father — an avid golfer who scored a hole in one on the third hole at Tamarack.

Proceeds from the event support the Y’s programs including financial assistance for membership, summer camp and year round day care at its St. Roch’s facility in Byram.

Today, the YMCA is the largest community-based organization in Greenwich with more than 5,000 members dedicated to healthy living, youth development and social responsibility through athletics and life-long learning programs in order to nurture the potential of all in the community.
