Annual Dahlia Society show expected to dazzle next month

The Greenwich Dahlia Society’s Sixth Annual Dahlia Show, sponsored by the Garden Education Center of Greenwich, promises attendees a fabulous sea of exceptional blooms this fall that range from tiny buttons to huge dinnerplate-size stems.

All dahlias will be sold on the final day of the show, giving the public a rare opportunity to own prize-winning blooms.

Those interested in showing their blooms can find the complete program schedule on the Garden Education Center’s website. Novices are encouraged to participate. Easy to grow and deer resistant, dahlias offer both experienced and novice gardeners a wonderful way to enhance flowerbeds with blooms that last well into the fall.

The Greenwich Dahlia Society started as a small group of dahlia lovers. Over the past few years, it has grown to become one of the largest dahlia societies in the northeast. Become a member of the Greenwich Dahlia Society by contacting the Garden Education Center at 203-869-9242 or

The show will take place Sept. 21 from 1 to 4 p.m. and Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.
