Make a splash this weekend

Last month, residents made a splash at the Greenwich Point One-Mile swim, but in August the stakes will be raised at the annual Island Beach Two Mile Swim on Saturday, Aug. 3, at 8:30 a.m.

The event is sponsored by the town as well as the Greenwich Swim Committee. Wetsuits are permitted but swimmers wearing wetsuits will be ineligible for awards. There will be refreshments and commemorative T-shirts for all participants.

Swimmers should report to Greenwich Harbor at 6:45 a.m. for registration and board the Island Beach ferry at 7:20 a.m. The race course will be marked by buoys and protected by boats. The entry fee is $75. Deck entries are permitted.

Visit the Greenwich Swim Committee website at Gscevents.org for entry forms and online registration. Volunteer boats are needed to help protect the race course.

Contact Race Director Jon Harnett at 203-253-2546 for additional information about the event.
