The work done by the Greenwich Lions Club to improve the lives of local blind and visually impaired individuals continues to assist the community.

The club has long supported the Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation, which helped to establish and still sponsors the Lions Low Vision Center and founded the Hardy Finch Lions Large Print Collection at Greenwich Library in the 1960s, a service it continues to support.

The club raises funds through its annual appeal, the Easter Egg Hunt held locally each spring and through the Grapefruit Sale each fall.

The Greenwich Lions, who have been supporting the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation for the past eight years, have made a 2013 contribution of $1,000 to the organization.

The Connecticut-based Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to promoting increased independence to blind men and women by providing them with the highest quality professionally trained German Shepherd guide dogs.
