Meeting to address regionalism

The South Western Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (SWRMPO) will hold a special meeting on July 22 with the primary purpose to discuss regionalism.

The Connecticut Office of Policy and Management Undersecretary David LeVasseur will brief the SWRMPO on the state’s requirements and timetable for restructuring regional boundaries and governance mandated by Public Act 13-237.

The meeting will be held at the Norwalk Transit District located at 275 Wilson Avenue, Norwalk and will begin promptly at 8:15 a.m. The meeting agenda is available at swrpa.org/Default.aspx?About=123.

The SWRMPO is comprised of the chief elected officials of the South Western Region’s eight towns of Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Weston, Westport and Wilton, and the directors of the region’s transit districts. As mandated by federal regulations, the SWRMPO is responsible for transportation policy development, planning and programming of federal transportation funding for the region.

The SWRMPO meets on the fourth Thursday of every month, at either the Norwalk Transit District or the South Western Regional Planning Agency. The public is invited to participate.
