Library offers college essay seminar

BooksGetting into college is no easy task but the staff and Friends of the Cos Cob Library are here to lighten the burden with a free workshop on how to write an impressive college admissions essay on July 22 at 6:30 p.m.

The workshop will be led by Cos Cob resident Michele Turk who will teach participants how to brainstorm to select appropriate topics and themes, how to organize and focus the essay and find individual voice and style, and how to avoid common essay mistakes.

Ms. Turk has worked as a writer and editor for two decades. Her articles have appeared in Business Week, USA Weekend, Parents and U.S. News and World Report, among others. She is an adjunct professor of journalism at Quinnipiac University and author of Blood, Sweat and Tears: An Oral History of the American Red Cross.

Interested parties are asked to visit the library or call 203-622-6883 to sign up and reserve a spot in the class.
