Reilly is right: Tower should never have been removed

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor

In regard to Jim Reilly’s letters to the Post these past few weeks, Mr. Reilly, I want you to know that I too was outraged when I learned that the World War II spotting tower at Greenwich Point had been taken down.

I don’t know who gave the orders for its removal, but I do know that it dishonors the many men and women who volunteered countless hours to man the tower through all of World War II and helped to insure the freedom and liberty that these very people now enjoy.

I see no aesthetic gain from the tower being taken down and once again a historic landmark is not valued by the residents of this town.
