Sand sculpture contest on its way

Ready to get down and dirty? Join the Department of Parks and Recreation for its annual Sand Sculpture Festival on Saturday, July 20 at 1 p.m. at Greenwich Point.

Bring your pails, shovels, rakes, boards or brooms to help you sculpt. To decorate, participants may use beach material only such as shells, driftwood, seaweed, rocks, and so on, but no living materials. Remember that all sculptures must be tastefully done for family audience viewing.

For more information, call the Recreation Office at 203-618-7649. For weather cancellation information, call 203-861-6100.

The rain date will be Sunday, July 21 at 2 p.m. The event is held in cooperation with the Greenwich Arts Council and is additionally sponsored by First County Bank and Meli-Melo.
