The Junior League of Greenwich announced the winners of the 2013 Greenwich Youth Film Festival (GYFF) at the second annual event held on May 5 at Greenwich Library.

Seventeen awards were given out to high school students from Fairfield and Westchester Counties for the first, second and third place winners from each of five genres, the Best Freshman Film and the Grand Prize.

The GYFF event screened the 32 finalist films out of an entry pool of more than 100 films. The festival also featured speakers including film writer and producer, David Levien, and Island Def Jam Music Group president, Steve Bartels and an award ceremony.

In his keynote address, Mr. Levien provided students with movie making tips such as “watching” the movie in your head, always being on time and not moving on from a shot if you don’t have it. Mr. Levien also took questions from audience members.

The winners were selected by a top line up of judges including Steve Bartels (Music Video), Blue Sky Studios (Animation), Gretchen Carlson (PSA), actress and former teenage witch Melissa Joan Hart (Creative), Clayton Pecorin (Documentary) and actress Amanda Seyfried (Best Freshman Film Award). Awards included $1,000 to the Grand Prize winner, $500 to the other four genre winners, $100 for all second place genre winners, $50 for all third place genre winners, and $250 for Best Freshman Film.
