Since it was the first weekend of summer, what better time was there than to “Experience the Sound” last Sunday at Greenwich Point.

The annual event marked the opening of the Bruce Museum’s Seaside Center in the Floren Family Environmental Center at Tod’s Point. And with a rare weekend of sunny skies and warm temperatures officially ushering in the summer, it was a packed weekend there. So people were in a festive mood for the event, which wasn’t just about spending time at the beach, but also to provide an educational experience for the whole family.

This event was a team effort with the town, the Audubon of Greenwich, Friends of Greenwich Point, the Greenwich Land Trust, the Greenwich Point Conservancy, Greenwich Green and Clean, and more. People learned about seaweed farming in Long Island Sound, how to properly fish for clams and oysters in Greenwich, and about the role of the town’s Conservation Commission. Local experts were on hand to talk about everything from scuba diving to sailing to fishing and how to rescue and help wildlife.

The event was also done in conjunction with the Greenwich Historical Society’s “History on Wheels” bike ride around Greenwich Point.
