Greenwich High School’s Mothers for Others recently cooked for a cause, holding a bake sale to raise awareness for the organization.

The event was catered by Garden Catering of Old Greenwich which contributed 10% of the afternoon sales to Mothers for Others.

Mothers for Others is an organization started by a group of local mothers that collects gently used baby equipment, children’s clothing and toys and then redistributes the items to needy families in the local community.

Established in the spring of 2011, Mothers for Others now services about 10 families per week out of their location at Second Congregational Church. These families are referred to the organization through Greenwich Social Services, Family Centers and the Domestic Abuse Services Agency at the YWCA.

Money collected from the bake sale and from the Garden Catering donations will allow the organization to purchase items that cannot be donated as used — such as diapers and car seats.

Gently used items may be donated and dropped off at the second floor of Second Congregational Church, located at 139 East Putnam Avenue. For more information, contact the organization at [email protected] or visit mothersforothers.org.
