Transportation policy discussed tomorrow

The South Western Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (SWRMPO) will meet tomorrow, June 27, to discuss transportation and non-transportation policy, programs and projects that concern the South Western Region.

Action items will include amendments to the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and a resolution demonstrating conformity with the Clean Air Act for Ozone.

A review of the 2013 legislative session will be provided, and key legislation of interest will be discussed. In addition, the meeting will feature a presentation by Tom Maziarz, of the Connecticut Department of Transportation on the Connecticut Congestion Relief Study: Express Lanes, Electronic Tolling, and Congestion Mitigation. Finally, a status on funding for flooding initiatives will be provided.

The meeting will be held at the Norwalk Transit District located at 275 Wilson Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06854, and will begin promptly at 8:15 a.m. The meeting agenda is available at swrpa.org/Default.aspx?About=123.

The SWRMPO is comprised of the chief elected officials of the South Western Region’s eight towns of Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Weston, Westport and Wilton, and the directors of the region’s transit districts. As mandated by federal regulations, the SWRMPO is responsible for transportation policy development, planning and programming of federal transportation funding for the region.

The SWRMPO meets the on the fourth Thursday of every month, at either the Norwalk Transit District or the South Western Regional Planning Agency. The public is invited to participate.
