Campership Program still accepting donations

The Greenwich Campership Program is in full swing and final preparations are being made for the summer.

The Greenwich Department of Social Services sponsors the program, which awards scholarships to Greenwich children ages four to 14 to local day camps and some sleep away camps in Connecticut. Camp fees are paid for solely by community donations.

Presently there are 225 children registered to attend camp this summer. There are, however, more than 80 children on the waiting list. Any additional contributions will help the children who are on the waiting list to be offered a camp session. Without community support, these children will not have an opportunity for a summer camp experience.

Campers can be sponsored at a rate of $350 for a two-week session or $475 for three weeks. Any donation amount is accepted, with checks made out to The Greenwich Campership Fund.

Anyone interested in becoming a member of the Campership Advisory Board, beginning in September, should call Monica Bruning at 203-622-7793.
