Cuban cultural exchange program offered

If you want to experience a rich cultural scene with the added bonus of some art history education, then you may need to look no further than Cuban Art Culture Today – An Insider’s Education Exchange, a trip organized by the Greenwich Arts Council (GAC) to take place Nov. 6 to 13.

Join GAC for a special people to people educational exchange to Havana, Cuba gaining access to private art collections, studios and unique art and music performances. Luxury accommodations are included for a week’s stay. The trip will be accompanied by Alex Hernandez, expert on Cuban history and modern contemporary Cuban art, and Tatiana Mori, curator of the GAC Bendheim Gallery.

The program will allow participants to exchange culture and ideas at the homes of artists — some of them internationally known — see their work, visit various craft fairs, experience the wonderful national art museum in Havana, the museum of the Revolution and other historic sites and enjoy the Latin music and dance of Cuba. The trip will include walks through Old Havana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and visits to other neighborhoods which display the diverse architectural and artistic glories of Cuba.

The exchange program includes round trip airfare from Miami to Havana via US chartered flights, all meals except for three dinners in Paladars (private homes — approximately $50 per person), Airport Exit Tax and gratuities to the guide and driver. The total cost is $5,800 per person based on double occupancy. For singles, add $700.

The registration deadline is June 30.

Applications should be submitted with check or credit card information for a $500 deposit. Payment in full is expected no later than July 30. You will receive a full refund in the event of the trip being canceled. You will need a U.S. passport with an expiration date at least three months after the date of the trip.
