On Saturday, the Convent of the Sacred Heart held its 11th annual Katie Cassidy Higgins Memorial Tournament, which honors the memory of Higgins, a three-sport varsity athlete that played field hockey, basketball and lacrosse. Higgins attended Sacred Heart since kindergarten and graduated in 1996. While attending St. Lawrence University as a sophomore, Higgins was struck by a motorcycle and died at the age of 19. This year, 32 teams from around the area competed in the day-long tournament. Also in this year’s tournament was a game that pitted the Sacred Heart varsity lacrosse team against alumnae. Tournament proceeds support four-year scholarships to attend CSH.
