Stepmom support group to hold weekly sessions

Being a stepmother is a unique role in family life. Those looking for guidance are encouraged to join the newly established Surviving and Succeeding as a Stepmother support group.

The challenge of serving the role of stepmother goes beyond the normal stressors and issues that parents typically face. Adjustment takes a lot of time and loving, and caring for one another develops slowly. Whether you are the stepmother of a toddler, a teen or an adult child, this group can help.

Join the confidential, eight-week support group, where you can feel free to talk about personal challenges you face as a stepmother. The group will aim to give participants the gifts of understanding, validation and appreciation that the stepmother rarely receives.

The group will be facilitated by Linda Schlapfer, LMFT. Sessions will take place on Wednesdays, beginning June 12, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. at JFS of Greenwich, One Holly Hill Lane.

Call JFS at 203-622-1881 to register or for more information, or email Tatiana Nichiforova at [email protected]
