Greenwich’s Shoreline FC Liverpool advances to State Cup finals

On Sunday, May 19, Greenwich based Premier Soccer Club, Shoreline FC Liverpool, advanced to the final of the State Cup Soccer Tournament.

The semifinal was played under an intense rain and it was Greenwich’s Koki Nakamura who scored what was to be the game-winning goal in the 18th minute, on an assist from Darien’s Pablo Martinez. That goal gave Shoreline FC the 1-0 victory over defending State Cup Champion Everton America.

With the victory, Shoreline will go up against CFC Azul in the final on Sunday, June 2 in Farmington. The team’s route to the final included a 6-0 victory over CFC Gunners, a 4-3 win over FSA Navy and a 5-1 clincher against Danbury United.

Shoreline FC is anchored by a very strong defense, which is led by its goalie, Riverside resident Chris MacKay. Defenders Nico De La Vega, Alvaro De La Vega and Julio Ojea Quintana are all from Riverside as well.

Also playing defense for Shoreline are Old Greenwich residents Clem Carter along with Luis Mandujano, Mikey Levene and Robert Garrett.

The midfielders have controlled play throughtout each game of the State Cup Tournament, led by Riverside’s Ale MacLean, Lucas Rivero, Fede Irigoyen and Thomas Binaghi. They are joined by Jackson Ryan, Sean Gallagher and Koki Nakamura.

Up top, scoring the goals from Shoreline are Riverside residents Inaki Mendive and Bernardo De Franca, along with Pablo Martinez.

Shoreline FC competes in the Eastern Development League and pits itself against some of the strongest competition from the tri-state area, plus several of the top tournaments in the Northeast.

Shoreline most recently finished second in its league and has a No. 2 state ranking according to GotSoccer.com.
