Michele Ivey, soprano, will sing Spirituals at the Round Hill Community Church service on June 2.

Get an earful of traditional spirituals at the Round Hill Community Church’s 10 a.m. worship service on June 2.

Selections will include My Lord What a Morning, I Couldn’t Hear Nobody Pray, Ride on King Jesus, Duke Ellington’s Come Sunday and Diane Bish’s When the Saints Go Marching In.

Soprano Michèle Ivey, who will sing the solos in the spirituals, has long been a favorite guest at Round Hill. At an early age, the accomplished singer’s debut recital took place at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. Her international career is highlighted by performances of the classics, musical theatre, Caribbean, folk and popular music.

Ms. Ivey is much sought after as a performer, facilitator and lecturer. She has a working knowledge of six languages and her career reveals a host of achievements as corporate trainer, docent, international protocol and etiquette expert, linguist, dialect coach, distinguished artist, diplomatic liaison and image consultant.

The trumpeter David Glukh will also be present to improvise obligato lines for a rousing effect. Since his graduation from The Juilliard School in May 2000, Mr. Glukh has been leading an active performance schedule, first as a member of Dallas Brass and later as a bandleader, composer and a soloist in the David Glukh International Ensemble, Manhattan Soloists and Wholly Brass in addition to solo engagements throughout the world.

Following the service there will be a celebration picnic in the Community House to welcome the church’s new minister, the Rev. Dr. Edward Horstsmann.

All are welcome to attend this festive morning of music and fellowship. Childcare is available.
