Jane Talar Richter, 96, lifelong resident,

Jane Talar Richter, age 96, a lifelong resident of Greenwich and a retired postal employee passed away peacefully at home on May 26, 2013.

Jane T. Richter was employed by the U.S. Postal service for 35 years before retiring in 1972. Born in Port Chester, N.Y. on July 27, 1916, she was the daughter of the late John and Amalia (Trabka) Talar.

She attended Greenwich public schools and was an honor graduate of Greenwich High School and a graduate of Short’s Secretarial School. Mrs. Richter was a member and past president of Joseph Pilsudski Society of Greenwich; a member of Greenwich Retirees Eating & Tarrying Society; Greenwich American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), Chapter #1210; Church Women United and American Workers Union.

She is survived by a daughter Joanne (Bosilevas) Locke and a son-in-law of Nevada and a niece and a nephew.

She was predeceased by a sister, Helen A. Talar and a brother, Charles J. Talar, Sr.

Her family will receive friends from 4-8 PM on Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St. Greenwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 PM on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at St. Mary’s Church, 178 Greenwich Ave., Greenwich. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery, North Street in Greenwich.
