Save the Children and take a stroll

Members of the Greenwich community and surrounding towns are invited to walk, run or stroll in the fifth annual Save the Children Mini-Marathon fund-raiser on Sunday, May 19.

The 2.62-mile event, sponsored by the Greenwich Leadership Council of Save the Children, the Greenwich Track Club and Serendipity Magazine, will benefit Save the Children’s Early Steps to School Success program, which, since 2006, has partnered with local schools and governments in 14 states and the District of Columbia to provide early childhood development services to children in some of America’s poorest communities.

Registration fees for the Mini-Marathon are $20 per person, or $75 per family, and sponsorships are available. Every participant will receive a T-shirt, a medal and a goody bag. The top finishers in elementary, middle/high school, and adults will receive trophies.

There will be post-race snacks provided by PepsiCo and LizSue Bagels.

For further information, contact event co-chair Marilyn Roos at [email protected] or visit savethechildren.org/minimarathon, where you can also register for the event.

Walk-in registration begins at 8 a.m. and the Mini-Marathon begins at 9:30 a.m., rain or shine at Tod’s Point, Old Greenwich.
