Wilton’s celebrated Jubilate Ringers will be coming to Greenwich this Sunday for a concert at First Congregational Church.

On Sunday, May 19, at 7 p.m., the meetinghouse of the First Congregational Church of Greenwich will be filled with the sounds of bells as it welcomes the Jubilate Ringers for a very special handbell concert.

The Jubilate Ringers, based in Wilton, are Music on the Hill’s five-octave handbell ensemble. This spring concert will include the premiere of Calling of the Bells, an original work for handbells by Westport composer Ed Thompson who is Minister of Music at the Unitarian Church in Westport. .

Mr. Thompson’s suite is in six movements, each based on a poem or stanza of poetry with bells as the subject.

The concert will also include handbell settings of folk songs from the British Isles, favorites by Leroy Anderson and a work for handbells with clarinet played by Malcolm Dickinson. Ellen Dickinson, Music on the Hill artistic director, will conduct.

The suggested donation for this event is $20 at the door. Tickets may be reserved in advance by emailing [email protected]
