St. Lawrence Society’s Golf tournament tees off on Monday

FI-golfWith spring finally here and those strangers known as sunny days and warm weather finally returning after too long away, many Greenwich residents are ready to hit the links and next week they can golf for a great cause.

On Monday, May 13, the 22nd annual St. Lawrence Society Golf Tournament will be held at the E. Gaynor Brennan Golf Course, better known as Hubbard Heights, in Stamford. Proceeds from the event will be donated in the name of the St. Lawrence Society to the Greenwich Senior Center and the town’s Parks and Recreation Scholarship Program.

The scholarship program is an annual town effort subsidizing children whose families can’t afford to send them to summer camp or participate in town athletic programs for the summer months. And in addition to teeing off to support these causes, people and local businesses can help through the donations of prizes and gift certificates to help the St. Lawrence Society defray its expenses and make a larger donation.

People can be a hole, cart, tee, lunch or event sponsor through donations ranging from $100 to $2,500. Checks should be made payable to the St. Lawrence Society. More information is available by calling the club at 203-618-9036.

But those just looking to play a fun 18-holes for the tournament are more than welcome to help as well. For a $160 entry fee, people can play and also get use of a golf cart, receive a commemorative picture, be eligible for prizes and be able to attend a lunch, dinner and cocktail hour. The lunch kicks things off at 11:30 a.m. at the 19th Hole restaurant next to the club in Stamford and there will be a shotgun start at 12:45 p.m., getting things launched with a scramble format. The cocktail hour and antipasto will be served at the St. Lawrence Club in Cos Cob and dinner is set to begin at 6 p.m.

Those who just want to get access to the dinner can for a cost of $95.
