Wondering how to live out those Earth Day promises? Need an idea for a Mother’s Day gift? On May 11, you’ll find your opportunity.

Come to Build, Tinker, Experiment — two free hours during which dads (and moms are welcome too) are invited to bring their kids and spend quality time building, tinkering and getting messy at art, science and technology stations.

Families are asked to live out their Earth Day promises and re-purpose things found in their recycling bins such as plastic water bottles, paper, foam, wood, metal and so on. The event is suitable for elementary and middle school-aged children.

The program’s activities include building 3D caterpillars inspired by Eric Carle’s most beloved book — caterpillars will be photographed and displayed at The Eric Carle Museum — along with doing science experiments to learn why some plastics are recyclable and others aren’t; peering into a frog’s belly; learning how to predict the weather; making balloon powered cars and exploring video gaming at the tech station.

Level Up Village is sponsoring this free community wide event on May 11 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center at 90 Harding Road in Old Greenwich.
