At Spring Fling Gala: Men to be honored for support of Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Put on your dancing shoes for a good cause this Saturday for the Fourth Annual Spring Fling Gala, presented by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Greater New York Chapter at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich.

The event will honor Gerald J. Klein, Jr., president & CEO of Mahopac National Bank, and Nicholas A. Stephens, partner at Edgewood Management, LLC and Greater New York Chapter Board member, with the 2013 Breath of Life Award for their support and commitment above and beyond to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and its mission. Proceeds from the event will be used to fund vital research and the development of new therapies for cystic fibrosis.

“Both Jerry and Nicholas have been extraordinarily effective leaders in their communities in supporting the work of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation,” said gala chairwoman Renee Brown. “We are very grateful for their continued dedication to the fight against CF and our mission to search for a cure.”

Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic lung disease that affects 30,000 people in the United States and 70,000 worldwide.

In the 1950s few people with the disease lived to attend elementary school. Today, due to advances in medicines and treatments, many people with cystic fibrosis are living into their 30s, 40s and beyond.
