The Department of Parks and Recreation, in cooperation with Threads & Treads, announces that registration for this year’s Jim Fixx Greenwich Memorial Day Road Race is in progress.

The five-mile run is scheduled for Monday, May 27, starting at 8:15 a.m.

There will also be a half-mile run for children through middle school age on the Havemeyer Field track, located behind Greenwich Town Hall, following the five-mile race.

Runners may register in person at Threads and Treads, 17 East Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, during store hours. Registration can also be obtained online at

Registration will also be available the morning of the race at the Greenwich Senior Center, on Greenwich Avenue, by the starting line from 7 to 8 a.m.

Participants will be filling out paper registration forms and cash or checks will be the only forms of payment accepted at registration on the morning of the race.

This will be our forty ninth Run and the event continues to be one of the more popular races in the area.  The beautiful course starts at the Senior and Arts Center on Greenwich Avenue, includes central Greenwich and Bruce Park and concludes on the Havemeyer Field track.

Commemorative T-shirts are provided to the first 300 entrants and The Old Timers will provide trophies to the top finishers in a variety of age categories for the five-mile run.

Awards will also be presented to all participants in the kid’s run.

Other race features include three on-course water stations and post-race refreshments.
