Brunswick School crew takes second at Bay View Invitational

The Brunswick School crew team traveled up to Providence, R.I. Saturday morning for competition in the Bay View Invitational and came away with a second place overall finish.

On a fast 1,500-meter course, the Bruins had two first-place finishes on the day. In the first Varsity-8 event, Tabor Academy took the gold with a time of 4:21.2. Brunswick took second in the event with a time of 4:24.4 and nobody else was close. Stonington grabbed the bronze and finished just under 12 seconds slower than Wick.

On the second Varsity-8 race, it was Tabor and Brunswick yet again, battling for the top spot. At the end, Tabor crossed the finish line with a time of 4:33.9 while Brunswick took the silver with a time of 4:40.2. Glastonbury was third in the event with a time of 4:43.3.

The Bruins flexed their muscle in the third Varsity-8 event, crossing the finish line with the top time of 4:49.5. Tabor was a distant second place, finishing with a time of 5:04.5. Glastonbury grabbed third with a time of 5:15.2. In the final event of the day, the fourth Varsity-8 event, Brunswick captured both the gold and silver, as the Bruins’ ‘A’ team finished the race with a leading time of 5:11.8. The ‘B’ team from Brunswick grabbed second in the event with a time of 5:18.3.
