Church to showcase local artists

gl-spring-fest-B-4-25The First Congregational Church of Greenwich is preparing to dazzle the community with local artists this weekend with a Spring Festival of Music & Art on Friday, April 26 and Sunday, April 28.

The church will add visual arts to its community offerings when they partner with the Art Society of Old Greenwich, who will have artwork on display in the church’s auditorium and in the back of the meetinghouse. One hour before and after each musical performance over the weekend, attendees will have a chance to view artwork from the membership of the Art Society, providing residents the opportunity to experience the many varied talents of the town’s local artists.

gl-spring-fest-A-4-25The festivities begin on Friday at 8 p.m. with an organ recital. The church’s Austin pipe organ will be heard in the recital by many distinguished Greenwich organists, including Jamie Hitel, Craig Scott Symons, Jon Hunt, Frederick Tripodi, Alistair Reid and Sean Jackson.

A $20 per person donation is suggested.

Then on Sunday at 4 p.m., the First Church Festival Chorus present Brahms’ own four-hand piano version of Requiem, with Jayson Engquist and Jon Hunt at the keyboard. Soloists will be soprano Hanna Golodinskii and bass Samuel Hepler, all under the direction of Craig Scott Symons.

A $20 per person donation is also suggested for this event.
