Tree Party will be in the ‘Right Place’

Celebrate Arbor Day with the Greenwich Tree Conservancy at their Right Tree, Right Place themed Third Annual Tree Party.

This year, the party, to be held Friday, April 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at McArdle’s Greenhouse, appropriately falls on the same day as Arbor Day. The event will include be hors d’oeuvres, drinks, including “treetinis,” and guitar music to enliven this celebration of trees.

The community has lost many trees in the years due to devastating storms but happily, together with the town’s Tree Department, the Greenwich Tree Conservancy has been able to plant 700 trees on public land. In addition to planting trees, the conservancy supports maintaining and pruning existing trees in addition to planting the Right Tree in the Right Place, which is the idea that tree selection should be matched to the particular conditions at a given site.

One example is planting species that have short mature heights adjacent to utility infrastructures and roads while allowing progressively taller species at increasing distances from roads and wires.

Tickets to the tree party are available online at Greenwichtreeconservancy.org.
