Brunswick baseball blitzes Dragons, 16-0

Behind the stellar pitching of Will O’Brien, the Brunswick School baseball team scored early and often in its 16-0 rout over Greens Farms Academy earlier today at the King St. campus.

In five innings of work, O’Brien put on a clinic, striking out nine batters and walking only one. His only hits were a double  to center field given up in the top of the fifth inning and an infield single in the fourth inning.

Brunswick scored three runs in the bottom of the first and added five more in the third. An inning later, the Bruins exploded with eight runs to put the game out of reach.

Nick Kono was Brunswick’s offensive standout on the day, going 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Ryan Popp went 3-for-4 on the day with a double and three runs batted in. Billy O’Malley also finished with multiple hits, going 2-for-2 with three RBIs, a double, was hit by a pitch and drew a walk.

Rich Hardin finished with an RBI double, while Sam Fraser added an RBI double and Johnny Mills netted an RBI single.

With the victory, Brunswick improved to 3-4 on the season.
