West Putnam Avenue reopens after repairs are completed

UPDATE 5:20 P.M. — Beating their own estimate, CL&P and the Greenwich Police Department say that part of West Putnam Avenue is open and now safe to drive after repairs were completed after an accident Friday morning.

Greenwich Police had urged drivers to avoid the area of West Putnam Avenue at Prospect Street and Brookside Drive  due to damage from an accident earlier in the day on Friday.

According to police, minor injuries were suffered in the accident, but no details have been released yet. A utility pole was damaged during the accident and Connecticut Light & Power is on the scene making repairs. Because of that, the road will remain closed. Lt. Kraig Gray said he has been informed by the utility that this will go beyond rush hour, making the road impassable during the busiest time of the day. Fortunately the repairs were done and the road is reopened.
