Greenwich Academy golf team blanks Loomis Chaffee, Westover

The Greenwich Academy golf team dominated its competition yesterday afternoon at the Round Hill Country Club, beating Loomis Chaffee School 5-0 and Westover 4-0.

The Gators were led by Rachel Oates, who chipped in for birdie on the par-4 fourth hole, and Susana Vik, who played six holes at 1-over par.

Camilla Vik was Greenwich Academy’s No. 1 golfer and she upended Loomis’ Winda Wankipun 4 and 2 and finished off Danny Smooke of Westover 3 and 2. Not to be outdone was Oates at No. 2. Against Westover’s Savvy Lodge, she came away with the 4 and 2 victory. Tory Peterson gave Oates a challenge, but the Gator came away with the 5 and 4 win.

Competing as the GA No. 3 golfer was Jessica Yacobucci, who beat both Loomis Chaffee’s Sarah Breckenridge and Westover’s Dhalia Tajada by the same 5 and 3 score. Susana Vik was at No. 4 for the Gators and beat Simone Hugh Sam of Loomis 5 and 3 and Westover’s Gabby Macchino 5 and 4.

Rounding out the scoring for the Gators was Caroline Zhao, who came out victorious over Loomis Chaffee’s Natalia Guitterez 5 and 4.

With the victories, the Gators upped its overall record to 5-0 on the season and will host Hackley School Tuesday afternoon at the Greenwich Country Club.
