Sacred Heart lacrosse falls to Loomis, 15-11

Despite playing a solid game from start to finish, the Convent of the Sacred Heart lacrosse team fell to Loomis Chaffee School, 15-11 earlier today.

The Tigers, who trailed 7-5 at the break, were led by Emma Novick, who finished with three goals and one assists. Fellow teammate Colleen O’Neill also had a hat trick against Loomis, while Taylor Ryan added two goals and three assists. Allie Kenny added two goals and Catherine Hayden rounded out the scoring with one goal.

Maddie Pillari was solid yet again in net, finishing with 11 saves on the day.

“I was really proud of the way our defense played today and how our offense was able to hustle and trap the ball in the midfield on their clears,” Sacred Heart head coach Courtney DePeter said. “I feel like it came down to groundballs and draw controls and if we won more of those, I think the score would have been different. Overall I think it was a great game and I am really proud of the team.”

The Tigers will be back in action Monday afternoon when they host Hamden Hall at 4:30 p.m.
