Students prove to be master builders

Hamilton Avenue School students have earned themselves a visit from the Legoland builder after winning the Junior Lego Construction Panel Engineers contest, sponsored by LegoLand Westchester.

A group of fifth grade students, mostly from the Advanced Learning Program (ALP), entered videos about Lego creations built with knowledge and learning of simple machines from the ALP curriculum, which utilizes Legos in a simple machine unit. After winning the contest, the whole school discovered it had won a visit from the Legoland builder.

This honor is the result of the hard work of ALP teacher, Lindsey Keller.

Ms. Keller is known in the school for consistently going the extra mile to engage students and was recognized by Legoland Discovery Center’s Master Model Builder, Michael Tocidlowski, who wrote, “I would like to take a moment to state how impressed I have been reviewing each video. Even as a master model builder, I’m awe struck by the unlimited possibilities of a child’s imagination. Each of your students are interesting and intelligent young people who I have no doubt will go very far in life.”
