Luck be a lady — The Central Middle School Theatre Arts Program is set to perform Guys and Dolls Jr this weekend on March 22 and 23.

Directed by Erin Schilling and Rebecca Lipshutz and produced by Bonnie Hann and Kira Seabolt, the 70-strong eighth grade cast and crew is ready to put on a fast-paced, entertaining production of the legendary musical.

Choreographed by Linda Duci, owner of The Country Academy of Dance, in Westchester, N.Y., the two-hour long production is filled with Broadway-style dance numbers and is a great show for the whole family.

Guys and Dolls Jr, written by Abe Burrows, with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, includes the hit songs Fugue for Tinhorns, Luck Be A Lady, and Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat.

The 1950s play introduces the audience to an upright, uptight “mission doll” — Sarah Brown, played by Olivia Jones, and Sky Masterson, a slick, high-roller gambler, played by Jack Ullrich, who woos Sarah on a bet and ends up falling in love. Adelaide, played by petite Abby Feda, is a nightclub owner-performer whose 14-year engagement to Nathan Detroit has given her a chronic cold. Nathan, her devoted but commitment-shy fiancé, played by Caleb Edmundson, is always trying to locate the next great spot for an illegal floating dice game.

Both performances on Friday and Saturday, March 22 and 23 start at 7 p.m. All tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. Central Middle School is located at 9 Indian Rock Lane.
