Greenwich schools to open on schedule

As Tuesday morning’s rain washes away Monday night’s snow, all Greenwich public schools will open on schedule. Other communities in Fairfield County have delayed openings, but according to the district’s website, Greenwich schools are all open and operating on normal schedule.

While this might disappoint some kids hoping for an extra hour or two of sleep, it will pay off in the long term as more snow days will cause more days of next month’s spring break to be taken off the schedule. Thanks to classes cancelled due to the impact of Hurricane Sandy last year, the district has used up all its snow days and has already had to add two days onto the calendar, both removing one day of the April break and adding one day to the end of the school year as a result.
