Metro-North to discuss travel to Penn Station at SWRMPO meeting

The South Western Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (SWRMPO) will meet on Thursday, Feb. 28 to discuss transportation and non-transportation policy, programs and projects that concern the South Western Region. Representatives from Metro-North will present to brief the group on the Penn Station Access project, which will ultimately provide direct Metro-North service from Connecticut to Penn Station.

The meeting will be held at the Norwalk Transit District located at 275 Wilson Avenue, Norwalk, and will begin promptly at 8:15 a.m. The meeting agenda is available at

The SWRMPO is comprised of the chief elected officials of the South Western Region’s eight towns of Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Weston, Westport and Wilton, and the directors of the region’s transit districts. As mandated by federal regulations, the SWRMPO is responsible for transportation policy development, planning, and programming of federal transportation funding for the region.

The SWRMPO meets the on the fourth Thursday of every month, at either the Norwalk Transit District or the South Western Regional Planning Agency. The public is invited to participate.
