Whitby wins identity award

Whitby School has a fresh face and award to go with it.

The school was recently honored with a 2012 Silver Excellence Award for its rebranded identity across all of its print publications. The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District I sponsors the awards, which recognize outstanding achievement in higher education and independent school communications and programming in the North Atlantic region. Launched in the fall of 2011, Whitby’s rebranding campaign presents Whitby as a modern and innovative school committed to readying students to thrive in the 21st century while celebrating its heritage, tradition and longevity. The new identity included a new logo, print advertisements, marketing materials, brand video and website.

“It’s an honor to be recognized for the truly collaborative efforts of Whitby’s staff, leadership and Board of Trustees in creating and maintaining the school’s new brand identity consistently across all channels,” said Tami McCarthy, chair of Whitby’s Board of Trustees Communications Committee. “Whitby has its pulse on how to develop students who are self-directed, passionate learners, who can confidently engage and thrive in a rapidly changing world, and the school’s new branding celebrates that on many levels.”

Lynne Brum, Whitby’s director of institutional advancement added, “We are proud to be a recipient of this distinguished award. This recognition is especially meaningful as it is judged by industry peers who understand the challenges, opportunities and rewards in enhancing the quality and reputations of educational institutions.”

CASE District I annually bestows its Excellence Awards to individuals and schools doing innovative work in the fields of special events, fund-raising, stewardship, volunteer engagement, alumni relations, student alumni initiatives, advancement services and communications. The North Atlantic District I area includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Quebec.
