Glee club holds Saturday concert

The Fairfield University Glee Club will be the stars of the show this Saturday with a performance at St. Catherine of Siena Church in town.

The Fairfield University Glee Club will be the stars of the show this Saturday with a performance at St. Catherine of Siena Church in town.

This Saturday, Feb. 23, St. Catherine of Siena Church will present the Fairfield University Glee Club conducted by Carole Ann Maxwell, D.S.M., with accompanist Beth Palmer, and the Reverend Charles H. Allen S.J., Chaplain. This highly regarded glee club contains more than 120 Fairfield University undergraduate and graduate singers. Members will also perform solo and in a variety of collaborations that include Sweet Harmony, Lindsey Gorgol, Nicole Raposo, and Diana Lordi, Directors, The Chamber Singers, and The Bensonians, Rob Preli, Director. They will perform Music for a Winter’s Evening: The Reverend Vincent J. O’Connor Memorial Concert.

The varied program includes compositions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Kyrie and Sanctus from Missa Brevis, Vienna by Linda Eder, Home from The Wiz, Freedom Trilogy by Paul Halley and a tribute to the victims of the Sandy Hook tragedy.

The concert will take place on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4 Riverside Avenue. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Children are free.
