Doctor to discuss ‘Proof of Heaven’ at church lecture

As part of the Courage and Faith speaking series at Christ Church in Greenwich, Eben Alexander will share his story on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 7:30 p.m.

Dr. Alexander is the author of Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon’s Journey into the Afterlife, which has been a number one New York Times bestseller since its release in October 2012.

All of Dr. Alexander’s recent talks have been sold out events, which the church says shows people nationwide are eager to hear a scientist’s perspective on what has traditionally been labeled a spiritual topic.

According to his website, “Dr. Alexander, a renowned academic neurosurgeon, spent 54 years honing his scientific worldview. He thought he knew how the brain and mind worked. A transcendental near-death experience, in which he was driven to the brink of death and spent a week deep in coma from an inexplicable brain infection, changed all of that — completely.”

Since that time he has worked to “reconcile his rich spiritual experience with contemporary physics and cosmology” and concludes that “his spiritual experience is totally consistent with the leading edges of scientific understanding today.” Christ Church invites anyone who has questioned the existence of heaven, citing claim in scientific fact, to attend what’s sure to be a stimulating event.

Tickets to the event are $20 and available at Doors will open at 6:45 p.m. There will be no advanced seat reservations available. After his talk and audience Q&A in the main church sanctuary, Dr. Alexander will be signing books in the Christ Church bookstore on the lower level of the building.
