Highway Department excelled in blizzard response

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor

Once again the Greenwich Highway Department has provided us with safe roads in a very timely manner following another intense storm.

With a clear dedication to their jobs and responsibilities, Town Highway Superintendent Joe Roberto and his crew worked tirelessly through the night so we, the citizens of the town of Greenwich, could enjoy safe passage the next day. It is important to remember that these efforts include providing our first responders with the abilities necessary to traverse our streets and arrive where needed as quickly as possible.

This letter is also a shout-out to this team in regard to the cleanup following Hurricane Sandy and the storm a week later as well as the annual removal of fallen leaves. The crews worked in unison while collecting debris for pickup and placing the waste in one of the vehicles that waited to remove branches and leaves. An observation clearly should be that their work was quick and efficient.

Due to the massive efforts of the highway department, our town streets as well as parks were cleared of downed trees, broken limbs and an overabundance of leaves. And so, it is absolutely imperative to recognize and express appreciation to the Greenwich Highway Department for an amazing job.
