Greenwich Sports

Although playing during the National Hockey League regular season has been a thrill for Greenwich native and Brunswick School hockey standout Kevin Shattenkirk this season, nothing compared to competing in his first Stanley Cup playoff.

“I expected it to be a high level of intensity and it was actually higher than that,” Shattenkirk said. “I think the one thing you don’t realize until you experience it is how tough it is to play the same opponent for a seven-game stretch. Against L.A., they pretty much played the same style we do, came out with desperation every night and it was obviously tough to go through. L.A. showed us how hard it is to win in the playoffs. This was a real eye-opening experience.”
