Barbara F. Gaulocher of Riverside died Sunday, Dec. 11, surrounded by her three children at her home at Edgehill, in Stamford. She was 78.
She grew up in Darien, the daughter of Beardsley and Marion Foster. She attended Darien High School and then went to Smith College, graduating in 1955 cum laude.
She had many interests that she pursued with great passion, her family said, such as reading, gardening and helping others achieve opportunities for higher education. She worked with the PTAs of Riverside School, Eastern Middle School and Greenwich High School. Many hours were spent working with the GHS Student Loan Fund, Smith College fund-raising efforts and League of Women Voters and NOW.
As a longstanding member of Innis Arden Golf Club, she was very active with the tennis and paddle tennis programs. Bridge, traveling and the theater were activities that were very special to her.
Ms. Gaulocher is survived by her three children: Scott and Ann Gaulocher of Old Greenwich, and their sons Todd and Mark; Gregg Gaulocher of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and Adele Gaulocher of North Andover, Mass., and her husband Mark Depolito, and their son Luke and daughter Lucy.
Her husband, Todd, died in 1980.
