Peter Starr Hadley, a former longtime resident of Greenwich, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, in Wallingford. He was 83.
Born in Manhattan in 1928, he was a 1949 graduate of Harvard University and was awarded an MBA from Columbia University. He was a Korean War veteran, honorably discharged from the Army.
Until October, Mr. Hadley had lived in Greenwich for 29 years. He was also a longtime resident of Inlet, N.Y., in the Adirondack State Park. He was employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 37 years, serving as treasurer before being promoted to senior vice president of corporate investments.
Mr. Hadleywas an avid hiker who traversed large portions of the Appalachian Trail. He climbed all 47 of the White Mountains as well as many in his beloved Adirondacks.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Patra Dawson Hadley and his step-grandson, Julian A. Ulloa. He is survived by his wife, Nancy E. Hadley; daughter Patra Starr Hadley of Glenview, Ill.; son Clifton Starr Hadley (Susan) of Flanders, N.J.; step-son Alexander Ulloa (Donna) of Marlborough; granddaughter Allison M. Hadley and step-grandson Michael A. Ulloa; sister Caroline Starr Wood of Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., and brother Charles Starr Hadley (Sally) of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; brother-in-law Richard Boner and sister-in-law Susan Pryor of Austin, Tex., as well as several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Mr. Hadley’s life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 1 p.m. at the Hartog Center at Ashlar Village (ashlarvillage.org), Ashlar Village Rd., Wallingford, CT 06492 .
