UPDATED WEDNESDAY, 11 AM —A Greenwich Police officer finds himself on the other side of the law this week after being arrested on stalking and harassment charges.
The state's attorney's office issued a warrant for the arrest of Officer Donnell Fludd following an investigation into his reported conduct toward a Greenwich woman with whom police said he had a "dating relationship." In November 2011, the Greenwich Police Department received a complaint from the woman, who reported that the relationship with Officer Fludd had "deteriorated to a possible criminal level," according to a press release from the police department.
Upon conclusion of the investigation, the facts were presented to the state's attorney's office and a warrant was issued. Officer Fludd was arrested by warrant Monday, Feb. 20, and released on a promise to appear in court yesterday, after the Post's deadline. He is charged with two misdemeanors for stalking and harassment.
Police Chief James Heavey said Officer Fludd has been on administrative leave since the alleged victim came forward. A separate internal affairs investigation is also underway, police said.
Because this is a personnel matter, the department would not comment further until the completion of the investigation.
Police Spokesperson Lt. Kraig Gray stated in a press release that the Police Department is cooperating with the judicial authorities in this investigation and has assisted the alleged victim with facilitating domestic violence counseling.
Officer Fludd helps run the Greenwich Flag Football League and has been involved with charitable efforts of the Greenwich Silver Shield Association.
